Escape the City, Keep the Friends

My friends and I had this cabin trip planned for months to celebrate a friend’s birthday, and honestly, I can’t think of a better way to kick off the new year. I highly recommend planning a January cabin trip with friends - it’s the ultimate reset. There’s something about being surrounded by nature, slowing down, and starting the year with your favorite people that just brings the best energy.

We road-tripped from Boston to upstate New York for a beautiful winter weekend. Our days were filled with hot tub sessions in the crisp cold air, endless games, and giggles that turned into full-on belly laughs. We explored nearby towns, grabbing coffee, wandering antique shops, and soaking up all the small-town charm.

One afternoon, we strolled through Narrowsburg, popping into the cutest little shops, antique stores, and cafés. We ended the afternoon at Big Eddy Brewing Co., which completely hit the spot - the best barbecue, amazing beers, karaoke, and board games. Truly no notes.

On the last day we made a stop in Port Jervis for brunch at The Reserve, a 1920s speakeasy-inspired restaurant set inside an old 1900s bank. The bartender made incredible drinks (my favorite was the Bank-a-Latte), and the food was just as good. We relaxed on the sofas, ate, talked, and soaked it all in - such a perfect final stop before heading back to the city.

It was the kind of weekend that reminds you how important it is to pause, celebrate your people, and make memories - no big plans required. Just a cozy cabin, great friends, and a few days to unplug. If you’ve been thinking about a winter getaway with friends, take this as your sign.

With Love,

LC
